Design Details

Climate is a broad coalition — technologists, entrepreneurs, companies, investors, philanthropists. Our event design system used a modular grid to make that visible: images become building blocks, composed into a mosaic of the technologies and sectors we invest in. Together they form an ecosystem greater than the sum of its parts.

The design system is a continuation of Elemental's brand refresh and our First of a Kind, Next to Scale series. Each asset carries the same guiding keywords — sophisticated, dynamic, organic, refined — and looks for balance between vibrancy and play, professionalism and gravitas.

Brand guidelines were created and directed by Jenna with production support from e2k | events x entertainment, Joshua Darby of Studio Question Marque, and Elemental Events Director Lani Cobb, and MD of Creative, Lauren Tonokawa.

The Outcome

The Outcome

Photography

This year's photography shows the breadth of what we actually fund — grid infrastructure, industrial process, agriculture, semiconductors, ports, geothermal, construction, logistics. Each image points at a real sector or a real company. No photo repeats within a single asset, though assets don't need to share the same set.

Building blocks

Composed on a grid, the images become building blocks. The arrangement can vary, but every composition uses a staircase at the ends of rows and columns — an offset edge that creates visual intrigue and pulls focus through negative space. Elemental's 2019 and 2024 rebrands both drew on the Swiss grid and minimalist design, and the grid does the same work here: it brings order and balance to organic, disparate textures. Block sizes, columns, rows, and padding stay consistent. Negative space keeps the mosaic from crowding the typography, which sits at the top of the hierarchy.

Color

Black is the ground. Most of the color in the system arrives through the sector and technology imagery itself, supplemented by strategic injections of color blocks from the Elemental palette. One or two per asset, never a rainbow — the full palette resolves across the assets as a set rather than inside any single one. Compositions favor pops of orange and yellow.
